The unit works well and I'm glad it has PoE as it is able to power up some of my cameras and alleviate the space on my main switch. It allows me to put cameras for this unit connected directly to the unit. Setup was easy and installing the hard drives was simple. I actually lost the 4 pin to sata power cable and Amcrest support was awesome in getting another one out to me. They stand behind thier product and I recommend them as a result.

It’s been months and so far great! I had another brand before for 5 years but this Amcrest works great. Setup was so so because I had to get the cameras and wiring but when connected works great image is great zoom in playback and even during night, rain and snow works prefect.

If you have a security system like mine you've cobbled it together from an assortment of different camera brands and types. Now you need to get them all to place nicely together. This standalone DVR is a good tool for doing that. It can support up to two 16 TB drives which is a ton of memory. You can add cameras via coaxial cable or via your network. It easily supports the advanced AI features of the higher end Amcrest cameras. I don't know if it 'officially' supports other brands but I had no problem getting several such devices integrated. It also gives you email and push alerts if anything happens that you need to know about. Well made, easy to set up and sold by a reputable brand. Highly recommended!

This is a high quality DVR that records clear images and has great features. I had to get used to a new app after using an older Amcrest model for years, but honestly it has just gotten better.

As an NVR this item worked very well. I've worked with NVRs before and this unit was easy to setup and operate. It recognized one of our PoE cameras from a different manufacturer but it did have issues with a different camera from the same manufacturer. I suspect that is the camera being difficult. No subscriptions required. There is a web interface and an app. The PoE worked with our cameras.I haven't spent a lot of time getting into the advanced features like facial recognition.I used two 3TB hard drives (not included) for a total of 6TB which is awesome. No issues installing or formatting the new drives. As a continuously recording NVR 24 x 7 this is working well for our needs.

The NVR was very easy to set up. You have to plug it into your router, but if your home is wired with Ethernet, you can plug it into an Ethernet switch also. This NVR does not come with any drives. It supports up to 16 TB, which is a good size for a home setup. The NVR was able to detect cameras easily, and it is very intuitive to play back footage. Footage was sharp, and there was no missing footage. I installed 4TB, and with 8 cameras recording 24/7, it lasts me about 4-5 days. The AI features allow you to detect motion and fine-tune it to avoid leaves, animals, cars, etc.—pretty much the common features you would find in any NVR. The only thing this one has that some others don’t is facial recognition, which basically allows you to turn off notifications for familiar individuals. The real gripe I have with this product is the pricing. At the time of the review, this item is $400! You can get full camera systems at that price that have an NVR with included drives. There isn’t anything overly special that warrants such a huge price. For this price, I would expect to have a 10TB HDD included.

Unlike some other Amcrest controllers, this one adds certain AI features even if the cameras do not have built-in AI capability. Accordingly fast data connections are required as specified in the product description, for all the processing being done in the NVR. Other users of Amcrest NVRs report that they work best with Amcrest cameras and other devices (e.g. doorbells).I got this particular unit because of the eight PoE ports. It's easy to set up software-wise, once your hardware is mounted and wired. Amcrest has a less expensive version without the PoE if you power your cameras in another way.

I have an Amcrest security cameras system on my homealreadt and I I am pleased with the performance at this price point. Amcrest make a good product. This DVR is an upgrade to my original one and has AI. I plan on adding it to my existing network because once you discover the power of remote viewing then it seems you always wish you had a few more cameras and viewing angles. Also it supports 4k and 16 TB of memory. You can never have too much memory because this allows you to playback and review event fom weeks ago that you might not have discovered transpired until long after .
