These appear to be of nice quality, much more heft than the standard factory manifolds. Getting the driver side on is a serious pain. The bolts are recessed and there isn’t room for a 3/8 to fit without a swivel and it’s tough to torque the bolts tight. I had to use a 1/4 socket and ratchet and hope I got them tight enough.

Ever since my OEM exhaust manifold’s cracked I have been having issues with my replacements. The doorman/crown aftermarket ones cracked, and we’re leaking after only one year. OEM was still too pricey for me, so I opted for these. There is a huge difference in quality and performance when comparing the AFE’s to crown or doorman manifolds. The material is far heavier, and does not get nearly as hot when running at temperature. I do not see these having the same cracking issues as the previous pair. The engine decelerates/coasts much better (used to seem sluggish unless I was slightly pressing the skinny/gas pedal), and there is a noticeable difference during acceleration (much more power in lower RPM’s). Gear searching has gone down while cruising on highway, and MPG has also increased. Not sure if any of these pros are from fixing the cracked manifolds, or the performance gains/claims by AFE. Either way, I am happy. These manifolds were incredibly difficult to install on the drivers side. Only due to the bolts lining up in an incredibly awkward way. It will require some patience compared to when installing the OEM ones. Some ratcheting wrenches are a big help, and going through the bottom was the only way I could possibly tighten the drivers side bolt that is against the firewall. Torquing to 16-20 ft/lbs was barely doable on drivers side. Didn’t even bother with the drivers side firewall bolt, just kind of torqued to my best guess. Slapped some spark plug heat boots on for a little insurance due to no heat shield with the AFE’s.Aside from the drivers side, everything else was incredibly easy. Performance gain is minimal, but the engine runs much smoother, and the computer is showing 16.5 mpg on 4” lift and 35’s (I haven’t gone through a full tank yet to verify accuracy, but it gave maybe a 1mpg increase). I would recommend these to any 3.8L JK owner needing to replace their old/cracked OEM or crown/doorman manifolds.

Deffininately recommend! Installed on wifes 08 jeep JKU. Think its a 3.6 or 3.8 pentastar motor? Not a jeeper myself. These things weigh twice as much as factory which im happy abput twice as thick also. The factory manifolds were both cracked which smelled terrible and ran like garbage. If it wasn't for broken bolts would have been a breeze install.(Nothing the welder couldn't save me from!)Driver's side have to use a swivel to get to 2 bolts. Passenger's side can easily access all bolts. Lined right up with exhaust flange for down pipes. Seems like it has a little more growl between 2-3000 rpm. Only complaint is that it does not come with mounting bolts or gaskets! The dorman bolt part # is 03414 was a nightmare to find them. Oh another plus is since cast and not steel not near as hot. Also still easy to access plugs. Plenty of clearance for plug boots so kept the factory for now.
