Using on a Pioneer AVIC-8200NEX headunit in a 2013 Scion FR-S car.The instructions given with this antenna seem to be copy/pasted from Pioneer's installation manual with a few exceptions.Fundamentally, it seems to work, but not without issues.First of all, the original GPS antenna that comes with the Pioneer radio comes with 'metal tape'. I did not buy the radio new, so I don't know exactly what this tape is like (nor do I know exactly how the Pioneer GPS antenna is), but I can assume the 'metal tape' is sticky on one side, and it's magnetic. The GPS antenna base is also magnetic. Quite a strong magnet, too. I assume you stick the metal tape on something that is not magnetic, so that it allows the GPS antenna to attach anywhere. In other words, the tape allows you to 'create a magnetic surface anywhere' which is nice, because I'm having a hard time figuring out where to put it otherwise. The instructions say it needs to be put somewhere in line-of-sight of the sky, but also somewhere magnetic for it to stay in place. Well, my car's dashboard, pillars, and rear deck area are all plastic or fabric covered, so that's a challenge... I guess I'll look into buying this metal tape stuff separately. The other issue is that the male plug on the antenna did not sit all the way into the female plug on the Pioneer radio. I pushed on the plug much harder than I should have. I tried to look very closely to see a problem, but very hard to see. I eventually put a small push pin into the very center hole of the antenna plug to open it up a bit. That allowed me to shove the clip into the radio just enough for it to click. It seems to work decent enough to fool the radio, so that's the goal I guess.
