ACDelco 18E1294 Drum Brake Wheel Cylinder: Good quality item, fit as it should. Locking spring clip can be challenging. Removal easy if a pick is inserted into recessed slot between clip & cylinder. Gently lift 1 side a little, switch to other side (repeat), continue & clip will pop off. Tried using the 2 screwdriver method to push clip to install (futile attempt); screwdriver would slip, alternating sides of clip would pop off. When all else fails: "Read the Instructions"! Chilton, Page 9-14: "Use a 1 1/8 inch deep socket and press locking clip onto the wheel cylinder". Worked like a charm. Hope this info. makes life easier for some of you.

This has the ears which keep it from rotating since these don't bolt in but are held in place by a special cutout plus a spring ring clip. The original design depended on the backing plate to hold it from rotating, a crap design from GM during the bad years. This version corrects a really bad design defect.

If you find a complete drum set from Centric on RockAuto, they will provide 2 drum cylinders with it, however if it’s for a 1990 S10 4.3 4x4, then they will be the wrong ones. The ones they provide are mounted by 2 small bolts. It won’t quite fit into the opening where the original one did. This drum cylinder is the correct one. It mounts perfectly and it uses the same style clip to mount onto the drum versus the two bolts. You will need to return them and get a pair of these. 5 months later and my rear drums are performing great and stopping just fine.

I prefer OEM because they always work. These were easy to instal and have worked flawlessly since then. The truck is a rare S10 with a 1500 lb (3/4 ton) camper special overload package from the factory. That includes a full size rear axle, heavy duty brakes, tandem boostersol , and oversized discs in front. These are the factory spec. wheel cylinders and work with all the other new parts I installed including hard lines. I tow a car trailer and when the electric trailer brakes failed the truck had no problem stopping the trailer and car it was carrying from highway speed to off ramp stop. After that I pulled the drums and found no problems with the brakes.

Would be 5 stars but the retaining ring didn't hold the solenoid as tight as the stock clips
