I purchased this for a 2010 Mini Cooper. The clutch hub of the new part does not have the keyway of the original part (shown in picture) so the new hub must be driven on which is probably not good for the compressor. Also, the hub of the new part is thicker such that only a couple threads of the nut would catch to hold it on. I could not risk having the hub come off so I wound up using the old pulley and old clutch hub with the new magnet. I believe the new pulley would work fine with the old clutch hub, but I had wasted enough time taking the new clutch hub off more than once to set the gap correctly with the provided shims (a trial and error process). I knew the gap would be correct with the old parts. Fortunately, the magnet was the only part needed and the AC works again.

Fairly straight forward install. Clutch installed easy enough and works flawlessly. A side note, my 2012 r56 had only one washer/shim on the stock clutch. This replacement included 3 And all 3 were used on this replacement to make it run correctly.

Bought this kit to put on a 2012 mini copper base (1.6L naturally aspirated) and it worked great ac clutch engages now with the new coil and blows cold air. will definitely buy another one if i ever need to.

Works perfect!!! Plug and play type of deal. Easy install, no special tool required. As a Mini Cooper Master Mechanic I Highly recommend the kit vs a $1000 compressor from manufacture.

The good about this is that it has the same connection as the original coil so no wire splicing required. Also most places sell an only whole ac compressor which in my case was not necessary. The coil is ¼ inch larger than the original and heavier overall, so is the metal plate that goes on top of it.The only drawback and the reason that I didn’t give it 5 stars was that the new front plate (the part that always spins and engages when the coil is magnetized) that came with this coil didn’t have the same grove design as the OEM one. I had to tap it to get in and in the process it bents, which made keeping the 0.4mm space between the plates impossible. After straightening it out and trying to install it several times I just ended up cleaning and using the original one, which is much more sturdy build. So far it is been working for a week. I hope it lasts for at least as long as the original one.

Thanks so much to the other reviewer who wrote the detailed installation procedure! Bought the 4.28 Inch clutch for my 2012 Mini Cooper base stick shift (non-turbo). Good looking part... extremely well packed... included hardware. I tried to install it myself but couldn't get the drive belt off due to the water pump tensioner being stuck (and I wanted to change the belt).First Mini shop I called would not install this for me... only wanted to sell complete compressor. But since I had power at the clutch and good pressure in my refrigerant, I was pretty sure I only needed the clutch. 2nd Mini shop I tried agreed to install this for me and it worked. I saved $1000 in parts and labor!
