This stake is very impressive. Sturdier than the old part, plus it has an open notch to make wiring easier.

Look identical to the originals. Very sturdy and threads appear to be good (have not used yet).

As far as anchors go, these are awesome for larger gauge items. Simply screw your item (in my case decorative yard lights) into the threading and youβre ready to plant into the ground. The stakes seem to be coated with an anti-corrosive preventative. As far as penetration power, these are great. My yard is very clay like with rocks. These spikes went into the ground in a second with a little force. You can feel free to exert some force due to these spikes being sturdy.

I got these because I THOUGHT they were ALL metal and could withstand being shoved into my (now damp in winter) clay soils and the additional challenge of some construction remnant hidden 3/4" crush gravel lurking periodically below, replacing another steak that was plastic and broke. They are not all metal - the 1/2" NPT receiver looks like brass but the rest is plastic. I am going to have to dig a hole to make sure the soil is all friendly before using this now because of it being plastic, ALTHOUGH, this plastic IS pretty burly and these may well be un-phased by my challenging soil situation.

While I was installing a new low voltage lighting system in our yard this summer, I encountered very rocky soil while try to place lamps around walkways and gardens. So, I did two things that mad my life easy. I got to very good strong Ironsmith 9" stakes (with a brass thread that connects with most of the fixtures). I got a long augur tipped drill bit to open up the ground enough to accept the 9" stakes. It was a little bit more expense and work but the end result is worth it. Highly recommended

These stakes work great to replace a broken light fixture spike that is already wired in place. The slot for the wire means the entire job can be completed quickly with no need to cut and reconnect the wire to the fixture. The brass insert inside the durable plastic spike provides a solid connection for any 1/2" NPT fixture and at 9 inches the spike holds securely in the ground. I keep a few spares on hand to replace fixtures that inevitably get broken around the house.

I bought two sets of these from different "brands" and they were exactly the same item, so figuring these come from the same factory - and therefore you can pretty much buy by price/deals. That said, these are robust quality and better than the broken ones they are replacing!
