I don’t have a machine shop, but I often need small pieces of plastic to make crude items out of. I order these Delrin rods just to have some material on hand. Delrin is an expensive plastic, and the price of 8-pack is so reasonable that I had to order it and see just what you get. And overall, you get some good, usable plastic.PROS:I think the biggest PRO with this is the reasonable price ($19.99 as I’m writing this). That’s a great value for eight pieces.CONS:I haven’t used Delrin rod before, but this material has an odd, extruded pattern on the outside. The material feels smooth. The pattern doesn’t bother me but some buyers might object to it. Also, the pieces aren’t cut to perfectly identical lengths. You can see that in my photo with the tops all lined up, and the bottoms showing the length variation. Once again, it doesn’t bother me.OBSERVATION:The material has some fibrous stringers at some of the cut ends. I don’t know if that indicates anything specific about the material quality or composition?OVERALL:For the price, I’m giving this a five-star rating. The images in the Amazon product page show the extrusion pattern I described, so I don’t think it’s necessary to deduct a star for that.

This 1 inch black Délrín rod will come in handy in my home machine shop. Every once in a while I’ll find myself working on a project where this material would have been preferable but I only had white nylon round rod to work with at the time. This is a bit more durable and can handle heavier stress loads without much deformation. So I’m happy to have this in my supply bin.The outer surface tends to be a bit rough and the some of them seem a bit over sized, which is to be expected from extruded plastics. Over sized is always better than under as you can shave off, but you can’t add. Either way, that is just fine with me as I’m always doing a surface cut pass to get everything trued up with the machine before zeroing the DRO for my main cuts.$3 per foot for a hand full of 10 inch drops sure beats $6.95 a foot from McMaster-Carr®, so I’m not going to nitpick about a hair or 3 of discrepancy in measurements. Either way this is still an excellent deal unless you need specific lengths of material to work with that exceeds ten inches. For the occasional small projects I do, this is perfect for my needs.

Measured 1.056 in diameter and less than 10 inches. The description says 1 inch or 25mm, that should have been a red flag since 1 inch is actually 25.4mm.
