I used this tow hook for lifting the engine to support it while removing the oil pan to do timing on 2013 328i, it only screwed in a few threads due to the lip/stop at the bottom of the threads and that was enough but was kinda sketch for me, it would work perfect for a actual tow hook for an older BMW but was to small for my model year. If you need it for lifting engine get a hook without the edge/lip, like a straight one by the threads, I got the job done though

Come on, what could go wrong a part like this. Way reasonably value compared to many others more expensive. I have used it once, to confirm its strength and all was fine. Good luck.
