No instructions on putting pieces together and some of the pens when put together work and others did not

Updated review. After looking over the pen, I came to realize that I put it together backwards. Once I corrected my mistake it works fine. Wish these kids would come with a diagram of how to put it together. This was the first time I've had an issue with it.
