I thought I was in for a pricey service call on our Electrolux front loading washer, but I googled the repair and discovered it was an easy diy job. In fact, it is one of the most common repairs on these washers and the easiest. I had to remove the broken striker and the latch switch (just two screws apiece), pull out the latch switch and unplug it. The hardest part was removing the broken piece of the striker that was jammed in the switch. My wife figured out to nudge the plastic spring-loaded switch and the jammed piece popped out.The broken striker appears to have been made of cheap pot metal and a close examination revealed pocks in the metal at the break that made failure inevitable. I did not expect better from this one on Amazon, so I got the two-pack. They appear to be identical. Installation was the reverse of removal and took less than two minutes. The new striker performs perfectly. The washer failed on Thursday. We are up and running on Saturday — far faster and cheaper than a service call! My wife is happy. I’m a hero!
