Beyond the standard welding mat, I purchased the mats to make a forever wick oil lamp. For the oil lamp you'll need a glass jar w/ lid, some 14 gauge copper wire, 1/2" copper tubing, some carbon felt matting and fuel source listed at bottom. Cut the tubing so that it fits inside just under the lid. Wrap the wire a few times on outside of jar (this will support the wick tube when put inside the jar) then bend it towards the center at a 45 degree angle and wrap it around the centered tube to hod in place, leaving enough tail to make a handle if you need to lift it out. Cut a small piece of felt just wide enough that when rolled it will fit snugly inside the tube with a bit sticking out the top (for lighting later) and long enough it will spread across the bottom of the jar; cut portion below tube in a fringe to help it spread out across the bottom and put this inside the jar. This will help soak up oil. Check to make sure copper tube and wick are straight, pour oil over wick and put the jars top on with a bit of wick sticking out. Give the wick a minute to absorb oil before lighting.
