Does not include internal hd (as stated by seller) and the external one I bought wouldn't work through the usb port in back so I purchased a renewed internal hd and it now works. Hope this saves someone else a little time and angst. Internal one was $13+ and was literally plug and play.I currently have it hooked up to an old monitor through vga so not much to say on quality. Purchased the Evtevision 5MP Outdoor PoE Camera and setup was easy. Does appear to be some lag, could be the vga maybe but it does work well enough for my purposes.

I bought this NVR to help record my cameras. I use windows with Blue Iris, but with all the windows updates, I miss important things. Needed to record non stop video. Something more reliable, I should say.So far it has been recording everything since I hooked it up. The motion detection works too. I have some VeeZoom cameras that needed to be manually set up. Only some difficulty with that brand. The other cameras were really plug&play. Just needed to enter their password. Keyboard can not be used, only a mouse with the onscreen keyboard. Can be annoying if you have to type a lot.The remote software for android glitches sometimes. You need to have a fast connection to view recordings and multiple live feeds. This NVR worked so well I bought another. I have a lot of cameras (over 20) on multiple routers. Both 4tb HDs were purchased on Amazon for $30. The NVR was $80. I can't say it is the best of the best. Though if you are on a budget, I'd definitely say give it a chance. Once it is set up you don't have to worry about it.

Mac app leaves much to be desired web gui sucks... But the windows app is great.. and the mobile app is great.. suggest setup mainly through app on windows using remote settings.. app routes not the same as routes on unit. Must do those locally... But for price... Works wonderful and easy enough to get going.. advanced features need some advanced tinkering...

I have a few Hikvision IP cameras and wasn't able to find a Hikvision branded NVR in stock, so tried this out as the hardware specs and feature-set is good for the cost: H.265 and POE were musts for me. From value/needs perspective I'm happy with the NVR. My caveat is you should be comfortable setting things up without wizards and working remotely with support. I don't think the documentation is sufficient to get running without emailing support. Support however was very helpful and responsive. My first drive (WD purple 4TB) wouldn't initialize and through troubleshooting with support I had it replaced by Amazon and the second drive is fine.Have been setup and running continuously for a month now. It sits in the living room quietly, no fan, and no longer notice it now that I added anti vibration pads to the drive mounting. Not much to comment on alarms and motion triggers since it is really camera dependent and passed through to the NVR from the cameras. It has fixed the problem I was having with one camera disconnecting daily when I ran it standalone. I have used the cameras native apps, Qnap NAS surveillance, and Blue Iris on a PC. Finally decided to move to a dedicated NVR and wish I had done it sooner. It's quieter, more energy efficient, and more reliable than the other non-dedicated setups.

Do not waste your money on this! I originally bought it to support my higher resolution cameras. All was good for about six months, then it reformatted my HDD and the HDD stopped working. The HDD wouldn't power on or spin up and wasn't recognized as even being connected. The HDD was tested and found to be fully functional. It was installed in another NVR and works perfectly. Other HDD were tested in this NVR and none work. Same issue, no power, etc. Stay away! Don't do it!

I bought this NVR to replace my older NVR and allow me to record some new 5MP IP cameras - my old NVR only supported 2MP cameras. As with most of the cheaper NVRs, the Evtevision comes without a hard drive for storing recordings. It was very easy to swap my existing WD purple 4TB surveillance drive into it. Just 4 NVR case screws and 4 mounting screws inside for the drive (these aren't provided). Connection internally is via a normal PC power and SATA connector - these cables are already in the unit so all you need is a hard drive (and mounting screws).Once the drive was installed the NVR booted OK and recognised the drive. I re-formatted it and was ready to setup my cameras. The NVR has both HDMI and VGA outputs. I connect mine via a computer monitor, but it could also easily be connected to a TV's HDMI port. The NVR runs from an external AC power brick (supplied) that delivers 12 volts to the unit. In operation I found it drew around 0.5 Amps at 12 Volts which is 6 Watts, about average for a unit that runs constantly and has a hard drive. With average UK electricity prices this is about 2.5p per day or £9.12 a year. The interface is very similar to my old NVR with all inputs conducted via a mouse (a small cheap USB mouse is provided with the unit, however it does work with a normal wireless dongle mouse which is what I use). This can be a pain, but only when entering IP addresses and passwords on the screen based keyboard. Most of the time you are just pointing and clicking. While you can plug a USB keyboard into the USB ports, it doesn't work. Mouse only input unfortunately. The NVR can run through a wizard that automatically scans for cameras on the network and it picked up all 9 of mine. I had to enter the passwords for each camera, but once entered, all cameras were showing and being recorded. They are a little fiddly to manually setup and it's not very intuitive unless you have used one of these units before.I use the NVR to record up to 9 POE IP web cameras 24x7. An alternative schedule for recording can be set for each camera over a 24 hour period. The NVR also supports motion detection and this can be setup on individual cameras. It can capture video and images when a motion event is detected and add an amount of post event time - all fairly standard NVR fayre. It can also send alerts if the video signal is lost, or blanked out.All 9 of my cameras record faultlessly with all recording at once - 4 of them are 5MP units (but streaming at 4MP resolution to lower bandwidth) and 5 older 2MP (1080) units. In 5MP mode the NVR can only play back a single channel at a time. Playback of a single channel is fine for my needs, but it is sometimes nice to be able to playback 2 channels where 2 cameras look at single location. The NVR can be set to a 1080 mode which allows playback of 2 channels simultaneously if this is a necessity.Recordings are easily played back picking a day from a calendar and then searching recordings for each camera. This would be a little easier if the camera names were used in the interface instead of just their numbers. Recordings can be exported in whole to a USB stick (2 x USB 2.0 ports are on the back of the unit) or you can select the start/end of an event and export just that clip to USB stick. The NVR can be cloud enabled and can be connected to over the internet using the xmeye mobile phone app. Although this isn't something I require, I have tested it and it does allow you to remotely monitor the NVR from your phone - with all the cloud based privacy and access worries this entails. There are a lot of features that the NVR supports that are far too many to go into, but it provides most of what is required for a small business or private home owner would need - like setting the time from the network, sending files to an FTP server etc. It appears to support WiFi and I did try to connect a USB WiFi dongle, but it wasn't recognised. With the amount of bandwidth an NVR needs to communicate with cameras a wired connection is really needed.I have contacted the Evtevision support email address to enquire about firmware upgrades and responses were prompt and helpful, so I can also actually highly rate the support provided as well. All in all I would recommend this unit to anyone wanting to run a small business or private home CCTV setup. It's small, fairly easy to operate and cheap to run. It also produces good recordings which can be exported to USB.

I've had this NVR for about 5 months. 5 cameras with a 250GB (SSD) HD. All cameras were being recorded. 2 months in I noticed an overheating issue which made the device restart every so often. I could hear the loud boot "beep" from anywhere in the house. I let it go for a whole month and finally decided to get a Raspberry PI heat sync to not lose my investment. That didn't help, although the CPU temperature was considerably lower. One day I decide to move two cameras and they ended up sitting on my desk for a week. During that time I noticed the NVR stopped rebooting!? Recording 5 streams doesn't cut it. It supports many channels, but using this as a network video RECORDER is probably not the best idea. It's better suitable as a viewer. Paging is extremely slow and grid to single view has major lag issues. Is there a new firmware that corrects this?

The software interface is easy to follow. I'm using it with 16 4MP cameras and I'm super happy with the way it works. The live display of the cameras is amazing. The search and record features are easy to navigate. Overall a great nvr for the money. I highly recommend it.

Great for the price!!! I have 13 Amcrest and 3 Foscam cameras and this NVR works much better than the other Amcrest NVR I have -NV4116-HS. The Amcrest NVR costs 3 times as much and I have constant issues, but none with the NVR. Setup is a little confusing, but once you figure it out, it’s very reliable.
