We live in rural farmland where the deer eat everything we plant. We have to place 5 foot fences in a circle around each tree we plant. We can start with shorter fences but as the tree gets taller, so must the fence. We can also start with a small circle, but again, as the tree grows, the circle must be made larger. We have tied soap to the fences to hopefully keep the deer away, but when they're hungry, not only do they eat the soap, their antlers have gotten stuck and pulled the fence off the tree and pretty much bent it up. In the summer, fluorescent flagging tied to the fence works, but it's plastic and it fades so it's not sustainable. This economy has prices so high, the fencing roll that used to be $100 is now $200. We have decided to use electric fence as our neighbor has done and her trees are left alone. They say animals 'smell' the electric so it keeps them away. I hope so because the thought of a deer not being able to get a fence off his antlers is very discomforting. We ordered this 3 pack of grounding rods and after a few bumps with our order, now have everything resolved, thanks to the seller, GOUNENGNAIL Store. These 3/8" copper plated grounding rods are great for the electric fences around our orchards. We have peach, paw paw and pear/apple orchards. The 3 are separately protected as they're pretty far apart.

The US National Electric Code requires rods to be 5/8 thick (or UL listed) and 8 feet long to even be called a ground rod. Most residential grounding situations actually need TWO of those ground rods to meet code. All three of these miniature (3/8 thick, 4ft long) ground rods together have less surface area than a single 5/8 thick 8 ft long rod, and cost twice as much as a full size UL listed rod from the local hardware store. Not to say that these are useless - being thin and short makes them easier to drive in and they ought to work well for supplemental or temporary grounds for things that aren't safety critical like electric fences and satellite dishes as mentioned in the listing. The listing also mentions residential electrical grounding as a potential application which these are simply NOT suitable for, and the listing should be very clear about this not being a code-compliant ground.

These are great general purpose ground rods with the standard clamp you would find on a 4ft ground rod. Note these are not for electrical code grounding of a house as they don't meet the requirements, but they are fine for the garden or maybe electrical fences.

With lightning happening more often these days and much fiercer than before, we already got some storm damage this year, with a modem dying. To prevent future damage, grounding rods on the satellite dish and lines seem like a good investment. If set up right, these can prevent surges. They do seem just as described and copper plated. The deeper you drive this 4 feet pole, the better the chances of it working. And you need to use thick copper wire to attach this on top to ensure a higher chance this works. It will be hard to say whether this effectively grounds til the next lightning storm, but since it happens so frequently this summer, I'm sure we'll see soon. And it gives peace of mind. For now, this seems like a well made bundle of 3 for the price, and were easy to set up.

4FT Grounding Rod with Warning Tags, Portable Electrical Copper Grounding Rod with Clamp for Electric Fences Satellite Dishes Generator Grounding (3) (3)4FT.These grounding rods seem to be well made. It is bright copper plating, with copper clamps. We have a lot of electric fences for livestock and always need more grounding options. These are perfect for that. We have hardpan at around 3 feet deep here, so these work very well for any grounding/bonding situation. We normally purchase the regular grounding rods, either copper clad, or galvanized at the big box stores for around $20 each. They are 8 feet long and 5/8 inch diameter. We cut those in half for fence grounding but not for residential electrical service. So this is a reasonable price on these and could potentially save some money. I’m happy with this purchase.
