These worked well for me to hold the posts for a railing on a storage mezzanine. They are the right size for 4x4s, and are quite sturdy. The raised bottom is a fantastic feature if you are using them where there might be water on the floor, and the standoff under the bottom means that the welds aren’t holding all the weight. They come will all the hardware needed to install them to a surface, whether that is cement or wood, and they also come with screws to secure the posts— very nice to not have to make a separate trip to the hardware store to buy those.I disagree with some of the other reviews that say these aren’t stable because they can only be secured to the floor on two sides. A post only needs to be secured in the direction across the plane of the railings. Assuming the railings are secured to the posts, the chain of posts and railings prevents the posts from moving along the plane of the railings. However, the holes for securing these to the floor are not large enough to accommodate large screws or bolts that will provide a secure attachment to a wood deck/floor. The size of the provided screws does not provide a secure enough attachment that someone could stumble and fall against one of these posts and be assured that it isn’t going to pull out of the deck. So they are very nice for light duty, but I wouldn’t recommend them for a railing on a second story deck.

We needed six 4 x 4 post base supports for a railing around our deck. When my husband found them online at a big-box home improvement store "on sale" for $28.70 FOR ONE (originally $35 each), I told him we should check Amazon. We found exactly what we needed and ordered two through Amazon's Vine program and bought the rest for $36.79 for ALL FOUR, including tax. That's a huge savings! Since the price difference was so great, he was initially worried about the quality of the product. No worries! They are well-made of quality steel and have more than enough anchor holes. A 4x4 post fits perfectly inside the support, and when secured to the deck floor, there is no wobbling. They are easy to install and work well. He was delighted with the assortment of hardware included for each support base--both screws for installation on wood and just as many concrete anchors. We needed both and were very pleased that we didn't have to spend more money buying them. The quality of the hardware is way better than that generally included with items like this (if it's even included). Not one anchor or screw broke, and the slots in the top of the screws didn't wallow out even when he had to take a few out due to mismeasurement on his part. He's also very happy to have the extras just in case he needs them for another project. The only thing he didn't like is that the holes in the support bases are straight up and down, but the screw heads are angled, meaning they don't sit flush with the base plate when installed. (Not sure I explained that properly.) But that's not a big deal. The bases are utilitarian and look it. I'm not even sure there is such a thing as a "decorative" support base, but once painted to match the wood, these plain ones will look great! If we ever need more base supports, we're coming right back here to order them. You can't beat the quality or the price!!

1: Why do we want it? Strengthen our deck.2: Unboxing: Come in bags in a small box with hardware for wood and masonry.3: Instructions: Good instructions.4: Install: Two minutes. Set and screw.5: In Action: We really like these tall post bases. Our handrails have started to lean from just being attached by screws, and these are reinforcing and adding years to our deck’s life. We are using them for 8’ tall posts that we connect to the existing posts. Across the top we are building an arbor. Optimal solution for adding on and making a deck stronger.Pros: Simple. No rust.Cons: The included hardware will rust. We used galvanized bought separately.

These are very easy to use and are a great price. I used these to set posts for a fence/gate on the side of my house and they're working well thus far. I installed into a concrete slab using a hammer drill and the supplied anchors and they feel pretty sturdy. I think if they were about 2-4" taller I would like them even more but for the price I'm not complaining at all and it's working well thus far. One of them is being use on a post that has the gate hinge and it feels sturdy however our posts are only 5.5' tall. I'd be worried if you were going much taller than that though.

I am very pleased with the construction and function of theses Steel Post Anchor from AXWHYS. I needed a reliable and rigid method for anchoring 4x4 posts to a platform. These heavy-duty brackets fit my needs nicely. They are constructed of carbon steel for strength and coated with a black protective finish so they look good as well. They fit all of the several 4x4s I have for my project and vary in looseness depending how wet or dry the pressure treated lumber is. The dry 4x4s fit a bit looser than the lumber that was freshly made and still has a higher moisture content. The brackets come complete with all fasteners to meet most needs. There are wood screws for attaching the post to the bracket and a choice of lag screws for fastening the bracket to a wood surface or concrete anchors complete with washers, lock-washers, and nuts. They also include a wrench to tighten the nuts or lag screws. The unique feature of this bracket is the steel floorplate which keeps the 4x4 off of the mounting surface in the event that you have water puddling at the base of the lumber. The floor keeps the lumber from longtime exposure to water which can shorten its usable life.
