The seams in the belts are nowhere near flat.If you run these over a platen they really jump once per revolution.I can't speak for the abrasive since there's no way to use this junk for any length of time.

The glue/mechanism holding the band together at the ends will come undone easily. It looks weak but it'll work as an abrasive.A thing I've been working on that's taken quite some time to make almost got damaged when the belt broke and flew off the sander. Luckily it didn't damage the thing I was making, but I wouldn't use these if I didn't have to wait a week for better quality belts to show up

4 belts in a row snapped almost instantly. The belts that came w/ the Makita stood up to days of hard use..EDIT: possible user error installing the belts on my part.
