This blanket seems really well made. It is thick, surprisingly soft, and flexible. I don't do a ton of welding, and most of it is done outside and away from flammable stuff. I grabbed this for very occasional use and I think it will last a very long time.

I ordered this welding blanket to use in my home shop. It works perfectly! I will note that there is a "this side up" tag on the blanket which helps to ensure that one side of the blanket stays clean. Great product - five stars!

This is a large blanket that will protect items when welding. Its heavy duty and easily will cover most items. I have used this when welding on a camper and there were no burn marks on the side where I had this blanket.

Blanket is nice to handle, very flexible, light , and soft. The size is nice and large, affording coverage of a lot of area. Besides providing protection from welding, grinding, and plasma cutting operations, I intend to use it as an insulation blanket for my pellet grill. When grilling outdoors in cold weather, tossing this fireproof blanket over the grill is a common method for preserving heat and reducing pellet fuel consumption. I have so far only used it in MIG welding, and there appears to be almost no effect on the blanket from sparks. For hobby welding it should last forever. Both sides provide equal protection, so you have two sides to wear out.

Like a lot of things online, they tend to be bigger once you get them in your hand that’s just the way we are. Some of us will take out the tape measure and see that it’s gonna be this big. But you know how that goes just like we all know we should get a used car inspected fully before we buy it even if we do it ourselves we sometimes tend to slack off and do everything. We should. OK enough with the preamble .This is a large piece of material, well-made. The edges are very well sewn and finished. It does mark the welding side, but I wish they had some kind of a subtle print on the welding side , so you could see it when the blanket was fully spread out. This would save having to look for the corner with the little label that I show in the picture, marking the welding side . As far as I can tell this is the only thing that I would change. Some kind of a printing on the welding side , even just some stripes, which I will probably maybe paint on, so it’s easy to identify without having to find the corner. Other than that I absolutely love it. It is on my cart for welding.

These are a bit different from the ones supplied where I worked. The ones I am used to are more like a tarp made of something like a fiberglass weave. They were much thinner than this. This feels more like a felt coat, just saying how it feels. It seems like sparks from welding, grinding, cutting...etc. could become lodged in this material. That may not matter to the material itself. But over time, it could make this blanket a bit heavy...or so I would think.Otherwise, I am happy with it. It is a good size. I recently moved and my shop did not move with me. So I am make-shifting as I go. I do not have a dedicated area for welding anymore, so having this portable blanket is very helpful to me. Shop is where I make it!While there are many things I just do not know about this because I am not familiar with this type blanket, I can say that it seems like it will be a good thing for a long time. It seams more heavy duty than the ones I have used in the past. But I do intend to try to shake out any partials that may get imbedded in the material from time to time. But it is a good size and I like it so far.

Weld blanket seems to work just fine with some sparks and (a little) amount of slag going in its direction. I can't state in regards to a lot of weld slag as I've tested primarily with MIG, but it handled both it and grinding sparks.A small torch on the surface doesn't burn through of course, but the small fibers of the blanket do burn off, emitting a very light amount of smoke and resultant smell. To be expected to a degree I suppose. In any case, I won't hesitate to use this to cover up anything I don't want damaged by metal work.It does have a weld-side tag on one side, which is good but it is also very small. I would maybe prefer more of these tags around the perimeter, or even along the edge all the way. Not a big deal.Upon opening it, it did have a fair amount of loose felt fuzz and random little fiberglass pieces on it, which promptly floated in the air and darted for my eyes. So be aware of that.
