This rod was perfect. I had recently acquired a 68 Pontiac Firebird with a bad alternator and the tension rod was exactly like this one. Unfortunately I found out the LH thread was stripped out on the old one and I broke it trying to adjust it. I went to five different places here in town that did not have one. I ordered this one from Amazon about 2 in the afternoon and it was delivered by 9 the next morning. The rod has a LH and RH thread so you can install it and then adjust the belt tension as needed.
