I have a zoysia lawn and yesterday I dethatched it with this equipment. I have always used rented equipment in the various homes we have owned. The short of the review is I really liked the convenience of having the equipment instead of renting, loading up, getting the rental out of the SUV, loading up and returning. I found the performance of the unit and the result of dethatching to be well worth having the equipment. The power of the unit was very good as was the dethatching. Additionally, the unit is lightweight and easy to roll or pick-up and move. I found the bag to be good, but due to the volume of thatch, I chose to not empty it as often. The bag holds a good amount of thatch, but if you have a lawn like zoysia you get a lot of thatch. So I did do some raking by choice. Still, I am extremely satisfied with the purchase.

I used both Dethatcher and Scarifier attachments on almost 1/2 acre yard with good results. It is very lightweight so pushing it was not an issue. I did not use included bagger as I have a riding mower to collect the large amount of thatch. However it did get very dusty using a riding mower bagger.I had rented a dethatcher from Home Depot several years ago but decided to give this a try. No regret with it is very cost effective, convenience and ease of operation.

Has two attachments, scarifier and de-thatcher. Even at the lowest setting, the scarifier digs and and can form bald areas in a normal lawn. The de-thatcher worked fine.

This machine really is quite effective especially considering the low price. You will need at 14G or lower extension cord. Anything higher and it will get very hot and potentially melt. Also, this pulls A TON of debris from your lawn. I mowed my 2500sq foot front yard super short and bagged the grass clippings (pulled three yard waste bags out). Even after that, a one-pass dethatching with this machine generated another SIX BAGS of debris! If I did two passes I'm sure i would have 10+ bags of debris. I did not try the lawnmower approach to picking up the debris but i can attest that manually raking or even using a blower and hand bagging is very time consuming. The included bagger for this machine is not very helpful. It only fills half-way before it stops collecting. You basically have to empty it every 8 feet. So make sure you have help collecting or try the lawnmower bagging approach. One minor complaint-- the wheels are not adequately spaced from the deck. They are very close and the frequently results in the debris fouling the wheels requiring you to go back and forth to free them up. Not a big deal but really a rather silly design flaw for an otherwise well-executed and purpose-built machine.

Overall I have been pleased with the way this worked. I was able to dethatch a section of my lawn that I accidentally killed off by using the wrong weed product and I did not want to rent a Dethatcher for such a small area. This product worked great and I was able to get the area reseeded and within 2 weeks I had my lawn back. I plan to use the scarifier on some other bad spots and I am sure by just an experiment with it, that it will work just fine. I am not sure how it would work for large areas as the collection basket is not very big and I had to keep dumping it after just one 25ft pass. That said, I have never dethatched my lawn before this and it was dead grass, so I had a lot of waste.I will be using it again next season as I think it really helps the grass grow!

So far so good. Pretty happy with this product that is easy to use and gets the job done. Our lawn looks healthy and well cared for. Would recommend 100%.

First off, really easy to use and assemble. I didn't know much about "scarifying" until I got this and researched. We hadn't done any aerating and dethatching for probably 8 years. It was exactly what my lawn needed after such a hot summer and years of neglect.The scarifying blades cut easily at a depth of 3 on the unit, and had to move to 2 around some of the trees and shrubs where the roots were to close. Amazing how much came out of the yard - had to empty the catcher nearly every row.Finished off over seeding with Penn State Mix and Scotts Seed Starter fertilizer. Surprisingly the pH was fine.After 2 weeks the grass was greening up nicely and now at 4 weeks is nice and full and green.
