These rod holders are outstanding for the price. Well built and easy to install. I used a 2in hole saw but you might be able to use a 1 3/4 hole saw and a file for final fitment. I used silicone sealant under the bottom gasket as well to ensure a water tight fit.

Super easy to use and install. For installation: What worked best for me was to use the foam "washer" to place my holder, and traced the inside with a pencil or sharp object. That left me a perfect imprint to cut out with my jigsaw. I had both installed in two kayaks within an hour. I appreciate the covers as well.

These rod holders are a very affordable option for adding a secure place to store your rod on a kayak or decked canoe. They are easy to install and are made of sturdy materials. I have added 4 of the rod holders to each of my kayaks and use them for trolling while paddling , and for holding spare rods pre-rigged with other types of baits. The price for these beats even the "W" store price, and they are shipped right to your door. How can you beat that? Fish on!

This was easy to install and the price was great. The cover is ok to pop open and close but could be a little easier. It generally works well. My only issue is it works great for spinning rods but for spin casting rods it doesn't seem to seat well. The button on the rod would keep pushing against the edge of the rod mount and release the line on it's own. Still good for other rod types and the price was great. I like the flush mount and would probably buy again if I needed more.

Installed in the hatch. Just hold it where you want it and place a pole inside, so you can see how the fishing pole will point. I didnt do this and installed it so the pole would point out over the water. Decided it was better pointed straight up. So I redrilled and reinstalled. Covered holes with clear silicon and the base covers my mistake. Used a dremel with barrel sander to elongate my hole after drilling with a hole saw (think 1 3/4") purchased SS bolts/ washers / nuts. But once installed I could only get a nut on one bolt (the others bolts were angled too close to the tube of the holder) ended up using 2 screws on the other 2 holes. Overall looks great. My next one will be perfect. Id suggest buying extras to practice on your friends boat before drilling into yours.
