For the price, it did what it was supposed to do. Good HP. Drained the pool very fast. I will say the bottom base to stop any debris from going up was cracked. This was fine because I will only use this to drain the pool. I gave it a 4 star due to the base broken.

This pump seems heavy duty and is surprisingly heavy. It comes well packaged and protected. It was fit snugly into its package to prevent damage in shipment. The power cord is also heavy duty and of good quality. This pump does not have a float switch, so it turns on and off by being plugged in or unplugged. Although it claims to pump 5000 gallons per hour, that seems an exaggerated claim, the volume pumped in actually quite good, but not that good. It comes with a good assortment of hose connections, but they are of light weight and do not look like they will hold up as well as the rest of the pump. I liked that the pump can drain water almost down to the bottom of the base of the pump, unlike my old pump which quit when there was 3 or 4 inches of water remaining. All in all, a good value at an attractive price.

Right out of the box, first use, this pump spewed water out of the seam in the base. Faulty in design or manufacturing, I don't know. All I know is that it barely worked, taking 3 hours to drains 600 gallons--a far cry from the 5000 gallons per hour the title boasts. Needed it to work in an urgent situation; a frustrating failure! I'd give zero stars if I could, but all companies have an occasional lemon.

I ordered this specifically to use to accelerate the draining of our swimming pool at the end of the season. Using a 3/4-inch garden hose, this pump worked in conjunction with our pool pump and the main drain to expedite the draining of the pool for end-of-season care. I have no means to measure the precise capacity of the pump, but I can tell you that it kept the 3/4-inch garden hose running at capacity the entire time. I can't complain about that. It was place in the deep end, where the water is 8-feet deep. The 16-foot long power cord was another plus... I do not like to have extension cords joined near the pool, and this cord was long enough to reach the closest power socket without using and extension.While I've not had the opportunity to use the pump for an extended period, I can state that it worked perfectly for my needs and based upon that, I would order it again if the need arose. However, for my limited needs, I suspect that this device should work well for me for some time to come.
