Had to remove the factory adapter with the tiny orifice from the cylinder and then screw this in. Flex line attaches to output end, no adapters needed. Rather than wire to the reverse lights I installed a switch in cab of truck. Why? Because surge brakes can be a PIA if you are driving in hilly areas. A diesel truck that has decent engine braking going down hill will activate the trailer brakes simply by taking your foot off the gas. Then other drivers start telling you your trailer brakes are smoking. So, turn them off when you dont need them.

It worked perfectly. My reverse lockout key kept falling out when I slowed while backing, I tried holding it in with strong magnets but they rust so bad. I read someone else said the fitting were different from his surge cylinder, I think he just forgot to remove the reducer fitting that was attached to the cylinder. This should fit when all other fitting between the cylinder and the end fitting of the hydraulic line are removed.

You won't find this solenoid in your local store so this is a great deal. I use it for the brake line on my boat trailer as a lockout for when I'm in reverse and it works perfectly. Highly recommend.

I have an older trailer that only had a manual lockout. I installed this right off the back of the cylinder where the brake line comes out. It works great. It is much more handy than the manual lockout.
