I'm leery of the bearings in this kit -- the individual rollers don't spin consistently by hand, and no care was taken to pad them (suggesting little is thought of their quality), instead just being loose in a bag with the lug nuts (how lazy do you have to be to not spin them onto the studs rather than throw them in the bag?), castle nut, and two dust caps -- but my use for the kit is atypical, so they ought to suffice. I have an old trailer axle and am using one of the spindles as the base for a weathervane. This hub kit is the rotational component. (The 1-3/8" & 1-1/16" bearing specs match the Type 84 industry standard for 3500 lb axles.) So, it won't have any load-bearing considerations that would over-stress the questionable bearings.Once installed, the bearings do roll moderately smoothly. There's enough resistance that the hub stops turning as soon as pressure is released, but I can't say I've ever spun an idler hub without a wheel (bigger diameter = larger rotational force) attached, so that may be normal. However, there's both play in the hub and resistance in turning it, so new bearings are probably necessary in order for it to be usable, even for extremely light duty like my application. The hub itself seems well made, but I obviously haven't road tested it. The dust caps are a more stubborn fit than those of other trailer axles I've worked on. I suppose that's why two of them are included: expect to do a lot of hammering to get them on straight.UPDATES: 1) After several days of spinning the hub, the bearings are rolling quite a bit smoother. They're probably shipped way too dry and need extended, very light use to get properly lubed. 2) I took the dust cap off to look things over, and it went back on WAY easier the second time. I'm guessing it was out of round, and all the hammering worked it back into shape. (That or the hub's inner seat is out of round, which would be far worse from a manufacturing perspective.)

Nice package to hold in reserve in case of a hub bearing failure on a trailer. (Be sure to have correct combination of bearing sizes for your axle prior to installation.) Grease up all surfaces and bearings and seal in a zip-loc bag before storing, to have a quality product for repair situations.

It looks good quality, everything is well installed and much cheaper than buying locally.

The product is exactly as advertised, no issues with fitment, and installation is fairly easy.
