The right way to place a post is to dig a hole, and... well, I didn't want to do that and for this gate I am installing, a wall is a few feet from the post, so the wall can do most of the work. So all I need is a way to anchor the post to the ground. This was perfect. Instead of a shovel, a sledgehammer. Then a few screws and voilà, one post.Very heavy metal, well finished with a durable coating. I think it will last decades. Nicely made, easy solution to what would be a difficult job.

Spike seems lone enough to prevent the lean that comes from waterlogged soil giving away.My mail box is still standing straight and secure.can be a problem getting it seated fully if you have rocky soil, but once in, should be stable for years.

I love this 4x4 post spike, I only needed one for a bell hanger. Before I saw this item, I was looking at a cement base , anchors and a metal frame to hold the post, and I can move it, if and when I want !

I ordered this set of two Fence Post Anchors to support 4.5 foot tall 4x4" posts to which we plan to attach electric fence netting on one side, and a light weight, 4' wide, pass through gate between the posts. The is an enclosure for free-range chickens that will not put any significant pressure on the posts. The electro-netting is actually self-standing with fiberglass poles, so these post anchors are not being asked to do heavy duty support, just acting as a post to which we can tie the netting. The 'gate' is just a piece of framed, PVC lattice, again, it won't subject the posts to much weight. For our purpose, these fence post anchor will do the job. In fact, we didn't want super deep seated post anchors, because we hope to remove them as we move the free-range enclosure a few times each summer.I think that the 22" depth of these anchors could be ill suited if you are trying to secure a taller post that is going to endure pressure or excess top weight. However, they will work well for us.

It did work ok, for now.I realized after I got it, that it is a bit shorter than other post spikes.I am using this for a mailbox. The post office recommends burying a post no more than 24". This probably doesn't have as much support, inch for inch as a post does, but I didn't want to dig a 24" deep hole. The spike on this is actually only about 16" long.My mailbox is also on a bit of a slope, so the post is a little higher than most posts need to be. So if anything, I probably need a little more support than is typical. This seems to be working ok right now, but I actually buried the top part into the ground leaving only about an inch exposed to help compensate for the length. It is actually quite well made and seems durable.I see there are other sellers with multiples of this length for about the same price as this was. I thought when I ordered this that it was about 2 feet long, so I revisted the listing to see if I had missed something. I can see why I thought that since the Title of the products is"1 Pcs 4"x4" Fence Post Anchor Ground Spike 22""Looks like it is about 2 feet long. That is the "total length", however. 22" also includes the part the post sits into. So, I blame myself for that, so I won't ding it a star for that, but considering I got a shorter spike than I was expecting, but feel like I could have gotten this for less, or the size I was expecting for the same price, I will take off one for value.

Very easy to install and made the job easy. We don't need to dig the hole for the post and it work very fast. Very strong and sturdy. I used to drill 4*4 and put the rebars and stick it to the ground for garden fence but now very easy to work with. We are very happy with this and need to get more.

When a delivery driver was leaving my house, he backed over my neighbors mailbox. I did not know this sort of thing existed, but their mailbox post was installed with something like this originally. I ordered this set to repair their mailbox. The spike on these is much shorter than the one they had, probably by about 10".Overall though, this so far seems to be a good fit and the repair should hold up. Only time will tell though.
